Support - Commemorative Brick Campaign

Become a part of the Cincinnati Observatory’s incredible legacy as the country’s first public observatory with an engraved brick on our Paul Nohr Memorial Sundial. With this support, you not only become part of a National Historic Landmark, but you will help leave a lasting impact on the generations who are inspired by the observatory to look up at the stars.

Bricks are $350 each and measure 7.5” x 3.5”, with room for three lines, with 14 characters per line (includes spaces) for your chosen message. Text will be scaled to fill the printable area. Bricks will be engraved and installed in groups of ten, and we will notify you to confirm your brick order and when the brick is in place.

What does the brick revenue support?

The revenue from this campaign will benefit our basement renovation project and general preservation efforts.

Is the brick permanent?

The brick will be on our Paul Nohr memorial sundial as long as it is in place.

Can I choose the location of my brick on the sundial?

Yes, you can request the grid of what bricks are available by emailing anna@cincinnatiobservatory.org.

Can I give a brick as a gift?

Absolutely! there is an option for gifting a brick in both the paper and online order form.

How much space is there on each brick?

You can utilize up to 14 characters (including spaces) and 3 lines on your 7.5” x 3.5” brick.

How many bricks are available?

We have around 120 bricks available for engraving.
