4th Sunday History Tours
Stories From Our History
Sunday September 26, Noon and 1:30pm
This special program offers those seeking to learn more about the Observatory’s history a more detailed, in-depth guided tour at Noon or 1:30pm. These include all that’s covered in a Daytime Tour - as well as more stories of how the Observatory came to be (and almost didn’t!). These tours also cover the Observatory’s role in weather forecasting and timekeeping as well as a visit to our interactive Sundial, original 1843 cornerstone, and more! Tours last about 60 minutes with plenty of time for questions and some behind-the-scenes fun! Perfect for local history, astronomy and science buffs ages 12 and up.
Tickets are $5 per person. Free for members!
Advanced reservations are required.
Space is limited to 15 visitors per tour, and we will follow COVID-19 safety procedures for the safety of our guests, staff and volunteers (see below).
If you are more interested in a shorter tour of the Observatory, please see Our Daytime Tours schedule.
COVID-19 Information for Visitors
To better protect the health and safety of our staff and guests, we will ensure the following practices are followed. We are following all protocols set forth by the State of Ohio to minimize the risk of transmission.
Social Distancing: We will follow social distancing guidelines while inside and outside the Observatory by maintaining a six-foot distance between staff and participants during our programs.
Encourage cleanliness: We will clean the public areas, props, and exhibits before and after each program and have hand sanitizer available in each building for program participants.
Limiting numbers: We will follow the State of Ohio guidelines to keep group sizes limited to fewer than 15 guests.
Face Masks: Staff and volunteers will wear face masks during the programs. All visitors must wear face masks inside the buildings. Masks may be provided if you need one.
Staying home when necessary: Please stay home if you feel unwell or display symptoms associated with COVID-19.
