Comets and Meteors Online Class

Comet Atlas and Comet Swan have been in the news, but what's the real story on these strange visitors? What's a meteor shower and when is the best one to watch?  Astronomer Dean Regas shares the best comet stories and images as well as his tips for seeing shooting stars this summer.

Cosmic Kids Online Astronomy Club

Cosmic Kids

Join us for a virtual Cosmic Kids club every Saturday in June. 

Grades K-2 will be from 10am-11am, 3rd grade and up will be from 12pm-1pm

June 6: Black Holes

Get sucked in and learn about one of space’s “massive” mysteries.

June 13: Comets

Have you ever seen a giant space snowball? We’ll learn what comets are made of and how they may have been important to life on Earth.

June 20: Galileo’s Mystery Objects

We’ll repeat some of Galileo’s astronomical observations and see if we can figure out what that fun loving Italian was watching.

June 27: Mars Rovers

We’ve learned so much about the Red Planet thanks to these rolling robots but it wasn’t easy to get them there. We’ll build our own version of a lander and see if we can protect our rover through the rough landing.

These classes will be free of charge but registration is required. Each week we’ll send out a link to a Zoom meeting for the class and a list of suggested materials.

The Planets - Online Class

Explore the Solar System with Astronomer Dean Regas as he takes you in for a closer look at our eight unique and amazing planets and their many, mysterious moons.  Featuring the best NASA images and cool simulations, this online class is out of this world fun for beginners.  (Note: Pluto may also be discussed ;)

The Sun - Online Class

Orbiting observatories have captured stunning details of our nearest star, the Sun, including sunspots, solar flares, and coronal mass ejections.  Astronomer Dean Regas shares some amazing images and videos of the Sun's nuclear surface and explosive personality.  Then he will demonstrate various safe solar viewing methods so you can see the Sun yourself.
