Comets & Meteors
Comets give insight into the origin of our solar system and their link to meteor showers. Discover what comets are, where they come from, and why they can appear with little advance warning and put on a spectacular show. Meteor showers are more predictable, but can put on an equally impressive display—sometimes a meteor storm occurs where several meteors per second are visible. We’ll also focus on the most popular shower, the Perseid, best seen in August. Find out some interesting facts about comets and meteors, plus ideas for observing and enjoying them.

Astronomy By The Numbers (but without the math)
Just how far are objects in space? How big are they? How can small particles make a huge difference when creating stars, nebulae and galaxies? Explore the "bigs" and the "smalls" in our universe without actually doing the math. Come for an evening of distances, sizes of objects and velocities. How big is our sun compared to a Red Giant? How is a star is born? And how can a black hole suck massive objects into a single point? It's fun with numbers, but without the math.
